Don Colberg and Garrett Tews formed colberg|tews landscape architecture in 2009 after building a decade of experience each in some of the Twin Cities’ premier landscape architecture studios.
We bring a progressive vision to the landscapes we design, which we infuse with functional clarity, visual beauty, and a strong belief in environmental sustainability.
The landscapes we shape are rooted in people and place, creatively expressing our response to the site and its context with our dedication to the programmatic needs of our clients.
Don is principal and co-founder of Colberg/Tews Landscape Architecture. He is known for thoughtfully designed modern landscapes emphasizing the interactions between people, materials, and place.
With over twelve years of experience, Don’s portfolio includes residential, cultural, urban, and institutional landscapes. His award winning work exemplifies creative yet simple solutions, attention to material and detail, navigating complex approvals processes, and client relationships.
A licensed landscape architect, Don was educated at the College of Design at the University of Minnesota where he regularly returns as guest critic.
